Novak Djokovic: Tennis star to be deported after losing Australia visa appeal

Remember when Novak Djokovic called out Naomi Osaka for not following the rules?

So what’s the point in having a court system if the government can just over rule it because they weren’t happy with the result, if Novak had had an Anglo name this wouldnt have been an issue, they are living up to their bigoted and corrupt reputation, other players were allowed in with exceptions but I guess they aren’t as famous as the world number 1, it’s the Australian citizens I feel sorry for having to live under a government that is so quick and willing to take away their freedoms, if they were so worried about covid they wouldnt have hosted a major tennis tournament that allowed many countries to enter, after all the vaccine doesn’t stop you spreading or getting covid, why are you happy about the result ?

They didn't "just overrule it" - the Oz government (like EVERY government) has multiple ways to grant and revoke visa's long standing on the law books.

His original case was quashed (allowing him into the country) was quashed because he had done everything he had been told to do and had a reasonable expectation that he would be allowed in because of it.
The later case came after the government revoked his visa because of existing laws and policies, he appealed it, it went to a court where multiple judges were presented with all the facts by both sides and, after deliberation, decided that the particular law that enabled the gov to revoke his visa was correct, valid and appropriately applied; if it wasn't then he has grounds for appeal but based on his public statements so far he seems to accept the judgement and is leaving.
He also admitted freely breaking isolation rules, there's some big questions about the validity of his covid infection claim AND he lied on his visa application/entry paperwork.

Other players using the same waver as him have also had visa's revoked.

This is the complete and total opposite of what you claim has happened.

On the bright side for Novak, he's still leaving Australia with more dignity than our cricket team,  Sad

He's got 2 weeks off now.

He can put his feet up and watch the tennis on TV
