Richard Arlen and Charles 'Buddy' Rogers
US actors, kissing, from silent film 'Wings', also some nude extras
#1
The first film who won the academic award for best picture had this steamy same-sex kissing scene between the two leads (Arlen lying, Rogers above).

Here is another picture of Rogers from the film.

The film also, unusually, had a male nude scene, of three extras during a medical exam for induction into the army. Unfortunately it is not a close-up but three good bums here.

I came across these online today, thanks to the person who put them there.

I have the perfectly restored blu-ray disc of the film and when i show it to people they are
amazed at the emotional power of this scene.  the nude extras in the recruiting office scene
likewise amazes people.  I wonder what the moviegoing public's reaction to the kissing scene
'was in 1927. Wink

I adore 'Wings', such a hidden gem of a movie, I have it on DVD and watch it pretty regularly.  However, the kiss scene is hardly a 'steamy' kiss, it's one man grieving his best friend who is dying from his injuries after being shot down, but being a same-sex kiss in the first ever Best Picture winner at the Oscars is something I wish was known more widely.  Yes, I know homosexuality was illegal when the movie was made, but the love and loss of a love rival and best friend is beautifully played.  And 'Buddy' Rogers was really cute.

Not really a steamy kiss.  It's two close friends saying goodbye to each other - and there was a considerable amount of similar scenes prior to the introduction of the production code here.   There are a couple of good YouTube videos out there telling the story of these kinds of images in films. but I'm not sure if I can post YT videos here.

I find it so hot but maybe I am weird. It is a goodbye kiss framed in a heterosexual way but still appeals to at least those who enjoy the Frodo/Sam relationship in The LOR.

I agree that was no sexual intent in the kiss but the fact the 2 male leads of the biggest film of 1927
shared an emotional on the lips kiss is remarkable anyway.

Noah's Ark (1928) is worth a look too.  Most of it is a WW1 story, and the friendship between the two lead characters is very much "Wings-like."

For those who know film history, Clara Bow, the "It Girl", played the love interest.

Yes.  A shame it hasn't made it to blu ray yet, actually.  There are stories and myths that a number of extras died in the floor scenes, but that was just all a publicity story, it seems (thankfully)
