My Dog Died

I'm really sorry for your loss.

I've never had a dog but my two cats died in consecutive years in 2019 and last year and I know the pain of losing pets can be every bit as bad as losing a human, and sometimes worse.

Everyone goes through the thought that they could have acted differently/could have taken a pet to the vet sooner/should have done this or that. It's a natural part of the grieving process and shows that you loved your friend very much.

It is not for me to give advice but all I would say is do whatever you need to do to get over this. In fact, you might never get over it, but you will learn to live with it, over time.

Be kind to yourself as well. Do your favourite things and give yourself treats. I think of my two beloved cats every day (one died just before lockdown and the other just after) but they knew that I loved them very much and your dog will have known that you loved him too.

All the best. You were and are, clearly, a fantastic friend to your dogs.
