What do you mean by that?  (= Tug? LOL)

According to the dictionary: "very angry, annoyed, or bothered"
so Angry Angry Angry and definitely not Tug

Just finished The Terror - Dan Simmons

Very good.
Was looking for a horror book for Halloween and this was recommended to me.
It's only taken me a month to read it LOL

Did you have to put it in the freezer at any point?

It would have added to the atmosphere.

I'm halfway through The Grifters by Jim Thompson - a sort of hard-boiled crime thriller, and very good it is too,

Phil - did you finish Heart of Darkness in the end or did you bin it off?

I'm currently reading Naked Statistics: Stripping the Dread from the Data, it's a great book to read when you're high! Disappointingly misleading title though. a book I wish every Trump voter would sit down with.

I’m not sure about books. Can I talk about books I’ve read? I’m almost finished with “the three body problem” by Cixin Liu. It’s incredible (super dence though)

It’s pretty hard sci-fi and exceedingly foreign in some ways (it looks at things from a Chinese view and the translation makes note) but it’s really fabulous to me as as a fan of Sagan’s “Contact” and Arthur C Clarke.

I believe the Game Of Thrones duo are going to (try to) adapt it for Netflix. I’ll be fascinated to see them try!?

Half way through The Lord of the Rings.

Seen the films a few times but never read the books. Tried once and gave up thinking it was hard going. Can't imagine why though.. as its completely not. Apart from the songs.

Frodo and Sam are obvious benders btw.

LMFAO, I've read a couple of times, and EVERY time I just roll my eyes and end up skipping the chapter(s) with Tom Bombadil

Excellent reference! Big Grin

I have found it increasingly difficult to concentrate on reading this year so turned to short stories to get me back in the groove! Simon at The Big Green Bookshop (gay owned and formally of Wood Green - now online) recommended some crackers!

Civilwarland In Bad Decline by George Saunders - dark, dystopian but bleakly funny

Last Stories by William Trevor - atmospheric and thought provoking

Young Skins by Colin Barrett - includes the Bafta nominated Calm With Horses

Excited to read Friday Black by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah next Smile

Remember to support local or independent bookshops rather than lining Bezos' pockets Approve
