New pics ? New topic !
#1
Exclamation
The rule of the picture forums is, in a nutshell, 'New pics ? New topic !'

As you're aware.. we don't enforce this rigidly and have always allowed a bit of leeway. If suddenly, for instance, Cliff Richard is prominent in the news, and there's a burst of posting pictures of him then it's natural that people will just add pictures to an existing thread of pictures.

What we don't want, is a forum of 'superthreads' each of one famousmale with pages and pages of pics.
The aim of the forums is to have many topics. Not to just have a few mahoosive topics.

We'll continue to use discretion and common sense.. but if a topic reaches around 50+ replies, don't be surprised (or upset) if its closed down. Just start a new one. Approve

Ta all.

It seems that the further one is from the UK,
the less sense the forum rules seem to make.

Not that I need to understand them! But, I
think that understanding rules makes it much
easier to follow them.

Why is it the aim of the forum to have many
topics? How does that make the forum better?

Who do I like that is in the news right now...?

Michael B. Jordan. Why is it better that I need to
scan the forum in search of multiple threads on
this actor, to get all the pictures, never knowing if
I have found them all, instead of having all the pics
in one place?

I feel like I am missing the point of this rule, and
wonder if it is something painfully obvious that I am
missing.

Thanks!

As stated, we use our discretion when it comes to the rule.

Simply, if a post contains hundreds of replies it's not only more difficult to find the new pictures, but it's also less engaging as people could be put off having to trawl through hundreds of comments to see the newish/most updated pictures.

What if the pictures come under the same sort of theme?

Personally, I use the "Portal" feature to browse the Forums.. This shows new posts, newest first. If people add new pictures to an old thread, I'm liable to miss them.

You do know that you can set the threads to "Last Post [asc]".
Having that will allow the most recent post to a thread to be the there
