I don't want to get a warning for going off topic.  Spank

I've given up to be honest.

How a post about British snack foods not being as good as they used to, turned into ANOTHER Americafest is beyond me LOL

Blame the silent masses who feel British snack food today still rules.

Well, not exactly silent, they’re booing at their laptops.

You have that backwards.  Rather than price controls there should be higher wages (which would feed inflation, but oh well).  Today's federal minimum wage, adjusted for inflation, is considerably below what it was, say, 50 years ago.

The Nixon administration tried price controls for a while and it didn't go well.  (Natural economic law doesn't like them.)

In yesterday's New York Times the journalist Ezra Klein ( Fancy check him out on YouTube) had a brilliant op-ed article about how "those in the economy with the power to do the dictating profit from the desperation of low-wage workers."

"This is the conversation about poverty that we don't like to have: We discuss the poor as a pity or a blight, but we rarely admit that America's high rate of poverty is a policy choice, and there are reasons why we choose it over and over again."

In other words, poverty in the U.S. is systemic and those who have the power to eliminate it choose not to.

I went with the idea of price controls because I don't believe we'll ever have a proper minimum wage tied to inflation with proper automatic increases unless and until the GOP and "Conservatives" are no longer in existence.  That's the only other way to even try to do it.  I know it didn't work before, but I'm not a "don't do X because you're afraid of what might happen" or "Never try something twice" person.

There ARE some factors that keep women underrepresented in some professions, but I also don't agree that simply shoving women everywhere with no regard for their desires is the answer. I've seen that in political discussions where people say women would be so much nicer to each other at the debates and so on. Did anybody actually listen to Warren, Klobuchar, and Gabbard cut each others' throats? Or observe Hillary and Merkel the last twenty years?

There are areas where women don't pursue careers because of boys club attitudes, gatekeeping, assault, harassment, and being treated as idiots. NOT ALL WOMEN AND NOT ALL MEN DO THIS, but it's a factor.

Anyway, yeah America blows. Empire in decline and all that.

I do think you have a point about an intelligent woman's ability to effortlessly lambaste someone with little effort.  I do think there is some merit, however, to the belief that women running things would be immensely better in many cases.  Women certainly have every bit of ability to be as awful as men, but I just don't think it's nearly as common for a woman in general to be awful as a matter of course.
