LOL is there a proxy lust thing going on between Brit Tories and Brit lefties here in view lately?

Neither this guy nor that twerp Jumblr is currently obsessed with are that amazing.

It’s weird.

UK you’re weird! LOL

If I may make this easier. The Sexual Offences Act -which decriminalized homosexuality on the UK- was passed in 1967 under the leadership of Harold Wilson; a Labour PM. Just over 20 years later -when you'd think that attitudes were becoming more tolerant and people becoming open-minded- Margaret Thatcher; a Conservative PM, introduced Section 28. I know politics is way more multifaceted, but I really struggle to understand why there are so many Tory sympathisers in the gay community.

No I'd say that's about the level of political discourse we're at in the UK.
My ridiculous man child is better than your ridiculous man child.

Neither are particularly appealing either looks wise or from their awful personalities.
For truly world beating sex appeal we need to pit John Hayes against George Howarth. Grrrr.

Haha I don’t internet know the names you mentioned but I’m glad it’s not just me being ”Anglophobic”. This is so silly.

I get what you're saying completely. And in general posts when people chip in just to say that they don't fancy someone annoy the life out of me.
However, in this instance, you can't deny that there is a proxy thing going on between this and the other which is bordering on ridiculous. (Actually it's not bordering on it, it is just ridiculous but I'm trying to be less confrontational). That was my main point more than not fancying him.

Ugh. That doesn’t mean we should have to owe Labour forever. It also shows what short memories people have.

At least I’m old enough to remember what the political climate was like then. You had a few, fairly bigoted MPs (some representing the religious right) in marginal constituencies. They would do literally anything to make themselves electable to their constituents.

It just happens that the early-mid 80s was a time of peak concern about AIDS, and gays (who hadn’t been particularly well-liked or supported up to that point) suddenly got a whole new torrent of abuse dumped on them. It’s a Sin explains it all very well.

But none of this was coming from the central party or the government itself (even if it made parliamentary time available for their hate legislation to pass).

I think s.28 is a classic example of “chilling effect” legislation. No-one was prepared to stand up to it, even though it’s unlikely anyone could ever have been prosecuted for it (and nobody ever was).

Even if they had been, it would probably have failed at ECHR level.

Quite frankly, I just wanna cum all over his cute face.......!

Well at least we're not playing awful gay journalist proxy anymore!

Also the Tories do in fact suck (well the right of the party do!) and if left to them alone gay rights would be severely worse in the UK. They're not going to repeal it but if it was occurring now the debates about normal families and a healthy society and free speech would be sickening. And trying to balance it all out with the rights to turn people away from hotels, b&bs, restaurants, wedding venues etc.

They have enveloped and incorporated the nationalistic far right groups. And weirdly despite never appearing more than 2 metres from a Union Jack are pushing Scotland and Wales further away from the Union and have already signed up to an agreement which puts a custom border within the UK. Future agreements look likely to bring more compromises to cripple our country. But you know that's what we wanted... Apparently.

I disagree with the first part. Society has fundamentally moved on - or a big enough percentage of it. You couldn’t “get away with” nasty legislative tweaks this days without some very bad press. And that’s true even in the States, so it’s very unlikely to make negative changes over here either.

Although the general point is true. We still need to remain vigilant.

Oh I wouldn't be so sure some groups you're currently rallying behind wouldn't have been calling gay rights "woke" or a pursuit of the looney left.

They did say that, yes. But to be fair, those were the groups who were pushing it at the time. And they had other agendas which they disliked even more, so it was all tarred with the same brush.

I get you.  I hadn't realised, mainly because I muted that cancerous idiot ages ago.  Believe me, this place is so much nicer without his constant attention seeking trolling.
