Coronavirus

Was the Guardian reporting specifically referring to the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine (which I believe was widely administered in the UK) or was the reporting inclusive across the board (including Pfizer, Moderna, ...  Sputnik V? LOL )?

I've re-read my post to check what I put.  I wrote that the under 30s have a higher rate of infection but a lower rate of vaccination.  Sorry if I wasn't clear.

It's ok! I was probably just tired when I read it and my brain wasn't full switched on at the time.

So its all been quiet of late

Hows it going?
Hows things near you?
Are you still wearing a mask ?

I'm still wearing a mask here in Hicksville,  covid

I'd say the majority of people still wear them in shops etc, but it's noticeable more & more people are choosing not to. What really pisses me off is when they're maskless AND they feel the need to come right up behind you and breathe on the back of your neck in the supermarket queue.  Sad

Locally, our R number is apparently somewhere between 1 & 1.4 in the last 7 days & has been steadily rising for a month. Which isn't great...

I'm double-vaxxed with Moderna but I still wear a mask when I'm at a shop. If the CDC recommends it, I'll get a third jab.

Mask wearing hasn't been mandatory here for a couple of months now.
When they dropped it, I'd say it was 50/50 in shops. But every week it seems less and less are bothering to put a mask on now.

I'd say its about 75/25 here now.
I'm one of the 25 obv.

Same here (with Pfizer).

Before vaccinations everyone at my gym was wearing a mask.  Once vaccinations became widespread the gym changed its rules to make masks optional for vaccinated members and required for others (no one checked).  After that almost no one wore a mask.  Now with the spread of the Delta variant about half the guys on the floor are wearing a mask (myself included).  Starting next Monday, Sept. 13 you must be vaccinated to enter the gym.  I've already registered my vaccination status with them.

Starting next Monday, Sept. 13 you must be vaccinated to enter restaurants, gyms, museums and some other establishments.  I don't remember if that is a NYC, NYS or federal rule.  Some restaurants are already asking to see your vaccination certificate before taking your order (with servers wearing a mask).

It looks like the pandemic is starting to make a downturn here thanks in part to those moronic 47% of Americans who are not vaccinated.

I wear a mask in shops and in the office (my company has mandated them when you’re not at your desk).

Oddly I’ve noticed a high % wear them in the supermarket but in other shops it’s definitely more 50/50. I went to the local shopping centre last week and the majority of people weren’t wearing them when walking between shops and then putting them in the shops - like it made any difference when it’s all under cover!

I’m off to London next week for the first time in two years so it’ll be interesting to see if/how it’s different to where I live which is a relatively small town.

With Texas, where I'm stuck living, being one of the US places where the virus is still raging due to the officials not wanting to do anything about it in the name of "personal freedom", none of it seems to matter anymore, overall. So many Texans are against doing anything that might help stop the pandemic simply because they prize "the individual" over everything else, literally. I still can't get the vaccine because there's literally no way to have someone come to your home to give it to you when you aren't able to physically or monetarily get to a hospital or clinic.

I wish Texas would hurry up and secede.

That won't help the thousands of good people who live there. Texas, like most red states, is minority rule. And they're doing everything they possibly can to keep it that way.

So who votes for those minority rulers?
Hopefully all of those Californians who are migrating to Texas will flip the state soon.

I was at Manchester Pride the other week and there was virtually nobody wearing a face mask and the village was as jammed packed as it usually is.

Went into a couple of the bars and it was the same thing, though to be honest it didn't seem to worry me, not sure why though.

Unfortunately for the people in Texas who want this, it would never be allowed.

Gerrymandering combined with voter suppression and intimidation are what keeps the GOP in power in Texas.

I still take my mask with me wherever I go, mainly out of habit. If the shops or public places aren't overly busy, I don't wear my mask.

The majority of people don't wear a mask now. I had a delivery yesterday and they came inside my home with no PPE, times have changed.

Unvaccinated/unmasked people are filling up the ER's and ICU's here. It's not "your body, your choice", it's affecting a ton of vaccinated people who need to go there for non Covid reasons.

Brazil's president and vaccine-skeptic Jair Bolsonaro is in New York attending the United Nations General Assembly this week.  In NYC dining in a restaurant (indoors) requires proof of vaccination (I've been proofed twice).  So he had to settle for a slice of pizza on a sidewalk on Sunday night.
