Coronavirus
#41
A couple of months ago I bought a box of tissues and was surprised to see the price on the box: $5.99. Oh My   That was up from $2.79 (or thereabouts) in the same store.  So I asked the store manager about that.  He told me that the supplier raised his price by that much.  Recently I bought a box and the price was down to $3.29.

If this pandemic lasts much longer then I'm going to buy stock in Kleenex. Approve
(We're expecting a "third" wave on this side of the Atlantic. Sad )

Reported on Yahoo! Finance:

"The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Monday sowed confusion over its stance on the airborne transmission of the coronavirus, by publishing — and then removing — new guidance that suggested the virus can spread beyond the 6-foot parameter that’s become commonly accepted in social distancing policy.

The agency pulled the new guidance, which marked a significant shift in understanding of how the virus has spread. Previously, the CDC said the virus spread through direct exposure and inhalation of droplets within about six feet of another person.

But recently, scientific research has advanced the idea that infected aerosol particles can linger in the air for longer than previously thought — something the CDC appeared to acknowledge before it quickly reversed itself, saying the new language was posted by mistake."

Just connect the dots. Wink

Thanks to Trump and his anti-science goons.

I live 2.5 miles from the CDC and know a few of the scientists. They HATE Trump.

Japanese scientists have now discovered that the plastic face shields that shop workers have been wearing for the past 3 months do fuck all to stop airborne virus particles.

For Fucks Sake.

I saw an animation of those face shields.
When the person wearing one coughs or sneezes the cough/sneeze goes down and out in a cloud.
From what I could understand, they appear to protect the person wearing one, but not others around that person.
So if you see someone wearing one, stay away!  For you it's as if he/she isn't wearing anything at all.

If he isn't wearing anything at all then I'd be in like a shot. Virus or not

In parts of this country wearing a face mask is a political statement.
Here in NYC and other intelligent parts of the country wearing a face mask is a safety aid and for some a fashion statement. LOL

Trump and first lady Melania tested positive for the coronavirus.
They are starting quarantine.
Maybe he'll wear a mask now?  (It messes up his makeup.)

I'm sure he'll find a way to blame Biden and the Democrats.

He'll be fine, he'll just take his cocktail of hydroxychloroquine and bleach.............

...........That is if he really has it. A few people seem to think he is faking it because of his poor performance at the debates, and so he can tell the world how he beat off the 'China virus', and that the serious effects are all fake news.

He's reported to have "mild symptoms".
Given the germophobe that he is, he's probably shitting in his pants.
He is 74 years old and clinically obese, putting him at higher risk of serious complications from the virus.
Maybe the experience will give him some understanding of the millions of positive cases and the 205,000 in the U.S. who have died.  But that is a long shot (a VERY long shot).

It will likely force him off the campaign trail just weeks before the election and puts his participation in the second presidential debate, scheduled for Oct. 15 in Miami, into doubt.  (That's a relief.  Biden should refuse any more debates with him.)  I suppose that his Hitler-style rallies are called off for now too.

Hope Hicks, senior advisor who traveled with Trump in the past week, previously reported a positive test.
Now everyone in the White House is being tested.
Barron tested negative.

VP Mike Pence has tested negative.
Of course, we can never believe anything that they tell us.

Trump has suspended campaign events.  (That's good news.)
He's been admitted to the hospital "for a few days".  (Assume that they're being cheerily optimistic.)
He has a fever, fatigue, congestion and a cough.  Doesn't sound like "mild symptoms" to me.  Plus he's old and fat which adds extra risks.
They're giving him "a promising experimental drug treatment".  (Let's hope it's bleach.)
I don't hope he dies.  (I just hope he gets destroyed.)
Justice will be served if he recovers with lifelong debilitating aftereffects like so many others are now suffering from due to his craven mismanagement of the pandemic.

That bitch Kellyanne Conway has also tested positive and a slew of others.  They're still testing.

The stock market dropped today due to the news.  I'm surprised that the market didn't go up instead.  (Probably due to the uncertainty.  The markets don't like uncertainty.)

He'll blame China (or the Democrats).

This weekend will bring more news I'm sure.

He is one of the single most damaging organisms this planet has ever seen. His decisions before and since he took office have endangered and killed thousands. If he lives he will do his best to destroy what's left of democracy here so he can exploit wealth more than he already has.

200,000 of his people have died, so how is death for him not justice? Let him die and piss on his grave.

Living with lifelong debilitating aftereffects is a more suitable punishment for him.  Some survivors can't even walk across the room without getting out of breath.  Death will set him free.

The guy is very sick (mentally).  He belongs in a mental institution, not the White House.
Meanwhile the virus has come back to bite him. Big Grin

LOL

So it looks like he knew more than a day before he admitted it and did a fucking rally and a fundraiser in that time. On top of all that, his doctors are not answering basic health questions and Pence is taking over an event.

Honestly, our country's worst enemies couldn't have planned a better attack. 200,000 dead and 700-1,000 more every day, complete chaos, and an election in a month that was unreliable even before this week.

That is entirely within character.  No surprise.
No only that, but opaque comments/answers from Trump's medical team have some suggesting that he may have known about his positive status on Wednesday already, long before his Friday morning announcement.
Further, Chris Wallace said that Trump arrived too late to be tested before the first presidential debate on Tuesday.  Given all of the hot air that Trump spewed that night Biden might be in danger (despite a negative test result).
If speculations are true then none of it should be surprising.
This guy knows no limits to self-preservation.

The White House will continue to make mask-wearing optional on its grounds, an official said Friday.
(Yeah, sure.  Dare to wear a mask.)

Also no surprise.
Trump's state of health has been a mystery ever since he took office.  Why should it change now?
Consider this: Trump released zero medical records when he ran for president in 2016.  What he did release was a letter from Dr. Harold Bornstein, his longtime personal physician, that asserted simply: "If elected, Mr. Trump, I can state unequivocally, will be the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency.  His physical strength and stamina are extraordinary."
No surprise that that letter was dictated by Trump himself and the doctor signed it.  (The superlative language is a giveaway.)
Shortly afterward Trump's bodyguard visited the doctor's office and removed all of Trump's medical records.
Then about a year ago he made a mysterious unscheduled visit to Walter Reed Medical Center.

The mental health exam that he passed a couple of years ago was a sham.  It was the kind of exam that they give to 5-y/o's to test basic cognition (or something like that). LOL

Add to the above, Trump's academic records are sealed too.
And his tax records (which The New York Times got and reported on).
