Lottery
#41
In the UK is it possible to claim lottery winnings anonymously or do you have to go on TV to claim the jackpot?  Here in the U.S. some states (I believe 6) let you claim anonymously, the rest want the P.R. coverage and make you claim with a lot of fanfare.  I'm told that even in those states you can still claim anonymously through a combination of two corporations that you can set up, the second which owns the first is held anonymously.

The truth is that nobody should have that much money.  Best thing is to put the bulk of it where it belongs with needy charities while keeping a small comfortable amount for yourself.  Studies show that the majority of jackpot winners wind up broke and miserable.  Very few people know how to manage that amount of money.  You'll need a professional advisor (who is honest Wink )

In addition to suddenly having a lot of new friends coming out of the woodwork and financial advisors and endless charities hitting on you if you claim publicly you now become a security risk (think kidnapping for ransom).  There's a reason why billionaires have bodyguards. Wink

Yep you can remain anonymous.

I can't see why anyone wouldn't.

I'd just disappear.
If I ever just disappear from here then I've either won the Euromillions or I'm on a witness protection programme.

Yes.  It keeps getting bigger and bigger until somebody wins.

If I ever win on the National or EuroMillions, I'm gonna be keeping it a secret.

Never know who is gonna creep into my life

Even if you won the lottery, it would be a difficult decision. It's true that you could keep it a secret, but eventually it will get out. And if you start somewhere new, that can be really exciting, but also really scary. It's definitely a difficult decision to make! My advice would be to talk it over with someone you trust, like a close friend or family member. If you're feeling lucky, you can even try your hand at ufabet.school online casino and see how that goes! That can help give you some perspective and clarity on what to do with the winnings.

Going to be £90 odd million on Friday.

I wonder to anyone who wins - Would they piss it away in a you can die tomorrow, or be smart about it and think that they have go x amount of years to live and not piss it away?

If you win the jackpot (whether it's £90 million or $1 billion) there are TWO things you should do:

1. Keep it a secret
2. Give most of it away to worthy charities (nobody needs that much money, but keep a small amount for yourself, a couple of million, not more)

On 1. It's to keep away the moochers, the friends you never knew you had, the fraudsters and various other undesireables.  They will make your life miserable.  But also, it's a security risk to have it publicly known that you have that much money (well, after taxes).  Think: kidnapping for ransome.  There's a reason why billionaires have bodyguards.

On 2.  Does more have to be said?  Do the right thing.  Do you really need a private jet?  Wealth does not equal happiness.  There are some very wealthy people who are very miserable.
