It's A Sin - the WEEKLY C4 thread
C4 / Russell T Davies 80s AIDS drama

And why is that so funny? What is wrong with watching something weekly rather than having to have everything NOW?

Because, quite frankly, folks have moved on a bit. That’s probably down to viewing habits. Linear programming (sit down, watch whatever’s on tonight) has gone out of the window. Streaming is in.

It’s not a complete criticism, but there are times when it gets silly (like when iPlayer first runs are only uploaded once a week). Some things are better left behind in the 80s (like phoning people on landlines, sending postcards instead of texts and so on).

And my personal view is, a performance doesn’t become real to me, unless it’s watched? I can read the script, but it’s a pile of prose. It doesn’t convey emotional meanings, body language, gestures and so on.

I never believe it, until I’ve seen it.

Then again, my imagination is poor. I don’t read fictional books. I’m a much more visual person.

Jumbler likes to watch on and then post spoilers to ruin people's enjoyment.

I guess that you and I have very different lives. It is not a matter of "quite frankly, folks have moved on a bit". I have never watched anything streaming - I simply do not have the time to watch something for hour after hour. I am too busy and have other things to do.  Nor is it a matter of "watch whatever’s on tonight". I watch a few chosen things for an hour or half an hour and then switch off. Admittedly a football match lasts longer. Maybe one day I will have time to sit and watch for hours but right now I am otherwise occupied. And when I do have some hours to spend relaxing I exercise, play team sports, garden, play musical instrumentsread - fiction. So, please don't cast me as some out-of-date guy who is stuck in the past

My apologies. But I guess we pretty much are at opposites.

I'm the same.

I don't see the issue with waiting a week for the next episode.

Bloody yoof of today. Everything has to be instant.

This was excellent. It is exactly how it was. For a while, it dominated being gay. Thank God it does not now.

I was in the top class of Primary School when it first broke out.

I always remember one of my mates telling me it stood for 'Arse Injected Death Sentence', which I thought was so brilliant I told my mum. And got a clip round the ear LOL

I watched the first episode again last night and can’t wait for episode 2 tonight. I think that watching one episode per week gives something to look forward to on a Friday night given we can’t go out right now.

Never seen Les Mis in my life. Do we know it’s not a short extract from that??

Yes. We definitely know it wasn’t... hence my comment.
