" every couple of days.
No way to stop it.
It doesn't learn.

"On the Echo Show:  Go to settings -> Home Content -> Uncheck Popular Recipes"

Took me less than 30 seconds to find out how to do that on Google.  Seems like you and technology just do not mix well do they?

But that is failure for a product sold as an ‘intelligent’ device.

I've never tried to make out that these devices are perfect but they are good, useful products and used properly they are a good bit of kit.  Saying "Alexa, why are you shit?" is as bad as saying 'Ed Sheeran why are you crap?'  I'm not choosing Ed Sheeran because I'm a massive fan, I have no opinion on him either way, but millions of people love him so the numbers speak for themselves.

Ladsnet comes out with comments such as "99% of the things it can do are utterly useless anyway" (patently untrue) and "From my experience of Amazon tech products... you get what they want you to have. They have no interest in what you want it to do. With little updates or improvement. There it is. Thats what it does. Deal with it. Which is fair enough but not what other tech companies do." (I think a lot of Apple customers would argue with that last one including me but I still love my iphone and I've been using them for over 10 years)

I try and defend the product and get a childish comment thrown back like "Wow are you Jeff Bezos?"

That chip must be getting heavy Jeff.  Put it down for a bit.

And you didn't defend the tech.  3 or 4 other people did.
You had a pop at me. With a dig about negative commenting in other parts of the site too. So don't make out you are the white knight of Amazon Tech when this is really about you venting your frustrations that this site isn't as good as LPSG.

Should have expected that answer from you. You simply cannot and will not address the real issue that you cannot in truth back up your argument for saying Alexa is shit. If you seriously think all I’m trying to do is say that LPSG is better than this site then you have totally, and most likely deliberately, missed the whole point. Stop trying to encourage other people to start bashing me just because you refuse to have a sensible discussion. You run a website, that’s all.  Get over yourself.

Extra golden balls for everyone who says summerfever is a knobjockey

Quote:Yet another case of a globally successful product being slagged off by a minority that has nothing better to do than find something to moan about.
Not having a pop at me there

Quote:And before you all start whining that everyone's entitled to their opinion let me remind you that if anyone dares to say that they don't like a particular celebrity in the Showbiz View thread they are summarily rounded on for negative comments. Unless of course you're one of the arse licking regulars who think they're part of the elite crowd.
Nor the site there

And please note.. when this topic gets closed shortly, its because its veered off topic and not because I'm in a sulk. Honest.

Never mind summerfever - you can just carry the argument on in Ramblechat. They talk about any old shit in there, Wink

Oh yeah, and you're a knobjockey.

Calling me a homosexual isn't going to cause me sleepless nights and you're right I did have a pop at the site.  When it's run by someone who can't bear to be challenged it's never going to be as good as it could be is it?

I knew you'd close the topic but that's your prerogative.

I'm going to have one final word because I'm like that and don't give a shit who thinks I'm a knobjockey and it brings the discussion back on topic which is what you'd prefer:  it took me about 15 seconds on my Echo 8 to find the recipe setting that you referred to and about 30 seconds to find it on my partner's Echo 5.  So I guess you must have a faulty Echo 5.  Either that or you don't know how to use the thing in which case you should never have started the topic in the first place.

Now, with a self satisfied smug look on my face I'm going to spend the afternoon riding a knob instead of talking to one.

You are a 57-year-old man on a gay forum defending an Amazon product and signing off by saying you'll be riding a knob. I hope since there's the pandemic it's your husband's.
