If anyone can make sense of someone that blurts out their gay affair with a younger employee to the world destroying their reputation/embarrassing their wife in the process that would be nice.

if this was a straight presenter who'd been having it off with a younger female employee... I don't think we'd be getting the same level of 'crucify the bastard' that we seem to be getting now

You're right of course but reading about this online it appears there may be more to the story than meets the eye. It's been documented that Schofield started following the young lad on Twitter when he was only 15. There is no evidence at this point that he started communicating with him until he turned 18 but it's clearly making the situation even more uncomfortable than it already is.
I used to chat to a guy online over 20 years ago who grew up in the same village as Phillip Schofield. He told me even back then that he knew he was gay so I'm amazed it's taken this long for the story to break. It's not like it was that big of a surprise and would anyone really have cared that much? Perhaps the fact he was a children's presenter wouldn't have sat very well at the time because of course everyone thought we were child molesters back then. Some still do.

Presumably confessing is a better look than someone else publishing the story and then having to respond afterwards??
Also, why does Holly Willoughby insist on knowing about the sex life of a man old enough to be her father? Today she said she was disappointed to be lied to by Phillip. Always thought she was a creep. Like a fucked up Barbie.

Of course, it put(s) all this in a very different light…
The Guardian Wrote:Phillip invited his brother, a civilian police worker in IT, to drive several hours from Bath to his home in London, where they spent several hours talking and ate a meal together in September 2021.
In a written statement, he said: “I was washing up and Tim was standing behind me and he said: ‘You are going to hate me for what I am about to say.’
“I said there was nothing he could say that would make me hate him. Then he said that he and [the boy] had time together and that last year they had watched porn … and [masturbated].
“I turned and said: ‘What did you just say?’ He said it was last year and ‘we were alone together’. Tim said it was just this once. I told him it should never happen again.”
The ITV star said he told his brother that he didn’t want to hear any more after Timothy began discussing the boy’s body, the court heard.
Schofield went on: “He then started to tell me about [the boy’s] body. I said: ‘Fuck, stop.’ I shouted at Tim that he had to stop. I didn’t want to know any of the details but he made it sound like a one-off.
“I said: ‘I don’t want you to tell me any more.’ I said: ‘You’ve got to stop, just never do it again. Regardless how that happened, it must never happen again.’
“Tim would say it was just ‘[boy] time’. I said: ‘What the hell is [boy] time?’”
Because his brother was not only gay, but a paedo. Although Phillip had nothing to do with his brother’s sexuality, it makes his judgement look clouded.
