Yeah I’ll be watching. I’ve no issue with King Charlie lll. This is what our country does best so I’m looking forward to it.

I agree - we don't seem to be able to get much else right, but we can put on a pageant...

I would have thought the whole Harry saga would’ve shown he’s not.

The Windsors do seem to have a very domineering, controlling streak. Just about as to toxically masculine as it’s able to get.

There is no logical reason why they have chosen to alienate Harry, basically make him choose between his wife and his own family, and his Royal duties.

And yet they have also chosen to ‘look after’ Andrew, whose conduct is deeply questionable at best, possibly criminal at worst. We will never really know all the details.

It's my impression that the Windsors are deeply worried about the future and survival of the monarchy.  Everything they do is with the intent of strengthening and stabilizing the monarchy; whether their actions are the wisest or not is another matter.  That's why they're protecting Andrew while seeing Harry as a threat as he reveals their dirty laundry.  It's better to keep the Andrew saga as quiet as possible rather than make him a spectacle.

A recurrent theme today is having people in positions of respect, or authority who “look like us” (i.e. black/Asian, etc.). It’s no longer seen as acceptable to have all-white leaders in public institutions (whether that’s an accurate, or proportionate assessment is another debate).

Logic again would dictate that applies to the Royal Family too. Hence the marriage of Harry and Meghan should’ve been welcomed, and celebrated. But it was anything but that.

So you will probably continue to see more disaffection towards the royals from the Windrush/Caribbean countries (they’re already quite hostile). Witness the reaction to William and Kate’s tour last year. Whilst there’s a lot of talk of Australia declaring a republic, that’s actually quite hard for them to do (amending the constitution), and there’s not as great a push to have non-white leaders over there.

Or just cut the whole thing out, given the current state we are in, throwing some old fella a parade costing millions seems tacky and not to mention outdated.

I thought the procession to the ceremony was very sparse - i was thinking they had really scaled things back.

So glad they made up for it on the procession to the palace afterwards...

I'm sort of on the fence. Would be great to get rid of the Monarchy, but nice that we have one.

I'm definitely someone who would like to see a slimmed drowned Monarchy. Keep the core ones, like Wills & Kate.
Get rid of the ones that are further away from the immediate family. Like from Andy and Edward. Andy not just cause of who he has been friendly with. Edward, a bit pointless to why he dresses up and being useful.

Yep Hugh im the same. Slim it down and with Charles and William I think it’s in safe hands.

I’m not sure I get the cost argument. Does anyone actually believe that if we didn’t have the coronation today, all the money would have therefore been spent on helping the average person. Of course not.

Keep it slimmed down. Anne is okay, she is know to be hard working. Well hard working for a Royal.
Andrew and Edward and their families, not needed. Turn up for family events, like the Coronation or a funeral or family wedding.

The length of the Coronation could of been cut right down. Felt it should of been, everyone turning up, sitting down. Wait for King & Queen to turn up.
The Crowning of both. A bit of a speech from Charles. K&Q leaving. Then everyone leaves. Knock it out within an hour.
No prayers, hymns or any other shit.

The cost £100 million, might be up to £250 million. Wonder to how much the security was for the event?
Some of the security cost a bit of a given.

I thought, on the whole it was great.

And I was surprised by the number of people walking up the Mall

The service itself was long, I agree, but full of symbolism.

It’s already slimmed down. Look at those on the balcony. They were working royals - Andrews children weren’t there, Prince & Princess Michael, for example

It will bring in plenty of money to the economy in the coming months that may or not offset the cost.
