Sad as it is, very often ethics, consistency vs hypocrisy, etc don’t enter into corporate decision-making.

In this case, I can easily imagine Lineker’s current contract with the BBC wouldn’t be the same as Sugar’s. It would be a miracle if they were nearly identical. If some clause in Lineker’s contract says he’ll comply with X, while Sugar’s doesn’t, well, the reason could be that stupid.

Lineker’s lawyer would have acted by now if his personal contract with the BBC were violated by the suspension.

It is interesting that when Gary Lineker tweeted something negative about Jeremy Corbyn nothing was said.

The answer is simple. Abolish the telly tax, shift the BBC funding to a model where it is paid for by voluntary subscription, advertising, and/or sales, and Lineker can spout his dumbfuckery without it being a problem.
