Sad as it is, very often ethics, consistency vs hypocrisy, etc don’t enter into corporate decision-making.
In this case, I can easily imagine Lineker’s current contract with the BBC wouldn’t be the same as Sugar’s. It would be a miracle if they were nearly identical. If some clause in Lineker’s contract says he’ll comply with X, while Sugar’s doesn’t, well, the reason could be that stupid.
Lineker’s lawyer would have acted by now if his personal contract with the BBC were violated by the suspension.

It is interesting that when Gary Lineker tweeted something negative about Jeremy Corbyn nothing was said.

It is voluntary
No it isn't. Anybody wanting to watch television broadcasts in the UK has to fund the beeb whether they watch it or not.

It is voluntary.
Nobody is forcing you to watch the television.

Nobody is forcing me to live, that doesn't mean that income tax is voluntary.

Well Lineker is back at work. Hasn't apologised. Now probably has more fans than ever. And the Tory chairman of the Beeb is hanging onto his position by a fine thread.
So that all worked out well for the right wing nutters didn't it ?

Was really good to have the best toy kicking expert ever back on TV yesterday. Watching Micah pretend to laugh with a stuttering middle aged man is what public finances are made for.
