This is excellent.

How is everyone over there doing under the good king? Scotland pulling out? Wales? Ireland reunifying?

Lying in State 24/7 is oddly mesmerising.

I'm sure the guards could do more than 20mins though. They'd get more through if they changed every 30mins instead.

‘Mesmerising’, you say?

I had noticed in news coverage that the men in military dress regalia have been taking  off their fancy face-obscuring headgear (bearskins, plumed helmets, etc) when they solemnly salute HM the Queen.  For once their faces are visible.

Will we be seeing some ‘Borderforce Sam’ type posts from you?

Watching the changing of the guards was cool.
(It came 5 minutes past the hour. So if anybody wants to watch it should be every 20 minutes after that.)

It’s early days for all that. There have been complaints from Wales that the new Prince is more visibly English than before (doesn’t speak a word of Welsh), and members of Cymdeithas (the Welsh Language Society) have gone on record saying the link between the British Crown and Wales is insulting.

That point has been made before. But unless you start having branches of the Royal Family based elsewhere (e.g. Australia, Caribbean), how can you give local people a chance to be more involved?? Just look at Prince Harry.

The real threat is from the Caribbean. A number of countries are openly discussing whether to vote for constitutional changes, or independence.

The Welsh nationalists, are nuts. I can attest to that and think they have more support than they actually have. Far mor people were waving flags in support of the new King when he came to Cardiff than any opposition. And they seem to forget that the vote to create a Welsh parliament makes the vote for brexit look like a landslide.

The Caribbean nations are mostly already independent. They are discussing removing the King as head of stateyet for the mos part, they’ll still want to stay in the commonwealth. They now how their bread is buttered…

I did The Queue on Friday. 12 hours from joining until out the door of Westminster Hall. Glad I did it. Glad I thought it would be 9 hours tops (guidance at the start) - even that felt like I wouldn't make it. I get bored very easily!

Happened to be there for the changing of the guard - and to pay respects. All sorts of people in the queue. Range of motivations. But friendly and respectful.

Also pleased Ladsnet has stepped in on this thread. It's not about freedom of speech (create a different thread of you must), it's about being thoughtful, sensitive and considerate.

I thought the vigil of all the grandchildren was very moving, I hope and assume this was the viscount's choice because this must've been difficult, especially at such a young age.

Didn't the BBC 'get their own back' as it were by not identifying the Australian PM?

I'm quite annoyed at the pitchfork mob bullying of Holly and Phil from This Morning. I work so I don't watch the show, but it feels like people are going out of their way to take offence.

So much for Be Kind.

They should have queued like the rest of them. No pity, and a stupid excuse...

Or the rest of them could've had better things to do than spend an entire day in a queue to walk past a coffin.

From what I've been reading, if they'd just admitted they took advantage of working for ITV to use the media queue, it would have probably been all over by now.
They seem to have lied that they were there for filming when they clearly weren't.
