Is it old fashioned to wear a jock at the gym?  I dont flaunt myself (got nothing worth seeing!) just find them more comfy in the baggage area!
This is one of those weird things that I've never quite made sense of in my head.

Went to a rugby school when was a kid, but games were always after school or at weekends, so it was always going home for your shower (until I gave up at about 12, so never saw what it was like after.) Any time swimming or at gym, have always seen people wither completely in the nip or getting re-dressed immediately to shower at home.)

As such, I ONLY ever saw jockstraps in an American setting on TVs/movies (or "adult entertainment"), and as such, I've only EVER been able to see them as either things to maintain an actor's dignity/age rating, OR the start/promise/tease of a fetishy sex act. I know that's not the intent, but have only ever seen them marketed or sold anywhere in that context.
Snap

Apart from the gay grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr-ness I thought they were a completely American thing.
I rarely see jockstraps at my (American) gym.  There are some, but not many.
Most guys either wear their underwear under their gym shorts or they freeball.
They are literally ‘old-fashioned’ in that the stretch-fabric technology in fashionable underwear, compression shorts, etc. does the job the jock strap was meant to do. They were already not so common back when I was in school, and we were being exhorted to go and cheer for our school teams: “Become an athletic supporter!”
I don't understand their appeal in any situation. I've fucked guys in them and it made to difference to me. In athletics I can't imagine any added function to underwear.
Well, they date from when underpants = boxers.
Obsolete! And unattractive!
I've seen a few backside views in the locker room that gave me a long look.  The jockstrap contributed to the appeal in those cases.

Yeah, they are a REALLY good aesthetic in the right light/setting.

And the right hairy butt. Big Grin
(And I'm not even an ass guy, but have had some good long looks at guys in a jockstrap.  More of a cock, bush, trail, pits and thighs guy here.)

It says that on the box.  But we say jockstraps.  Sounds better. Big Grin
Still, the puzzle remains. Why did they become synonymous with gay adult/fetish wear??

I was watching a hot guy on OnlyFans being fucked by an equally hot young guy. The first guy only had to pull down his jeans - because he was wearing a jock, his partner had easy access. Wink

You've got it in one...
Always liked them, but no, can't say I saw any at school, uni or gym really.
We were told to get a pair for rugby, which was the main school sport, but don't think anyone did. (We were definitely not supposed to wear our regular underwear for rugby or the gym...not that anyone checked, so nobody obeyed that rule after the first lesson!)
Still I always think jocks look and feel good to wear under shorts or trackies. Basically, I appreciate the pouch support after having had some pretty loose briefs in the past.
Day to day, I'll wear trunks or boxerbriefs, but sometimes a pair of sports briefs or a jock, usually for a workout, if I fancy.
Never been a fan of them myself. Much prefer to see a lad wearing briefs (actual briefs, not boxer briefs).
They used to be required for gym class, which was cool cuz it meant all the guys had to strip naked and put one on. In USA many gym teachers would check to ensure we were wearing them. Not sure why but it was made very clear to us that jocks were mandatory. Later, I found that lots of gay guys (bottoms) wore them instead of undies because it turned them on to feel so available and it felt sexy to feel jeans on their ass.

Bud I wear a jock for running and other sports. Feels comfortable and supportive. Good under running tights too. Guys did wear them for football but most blokes wear compression shorts now.
